Isaac’s Birthday Party

We had Isaac’s birthday celebration on Sunday in Cottage Grove at my Dad’s house. It was very nice to not have to worry about getting our house ready (and keeping it ready) for guests. Thanks Dad!

We went to our own church in the morning. The summer schedule has our church service starting at 9:00.  We knew we would be done in plenty of time to get to our 2:00 birthday party.  We arrived in Cottage Grove at lunch time. We had lunch and finished prepping for the party. The guests arrived at 2:00 and we partied!

The most exciting part of the day was when Ethan called to Nathan from the bathroom. He said he had a problem. He told Nathan that he just discovered that he forgot to wear underwear. This, my friends, is a risk you take when your children dress themselves. I’ve learned that I guess I should ask Ethan if he’s wearing underwear the next time we’re getting ready to go somewhere. Who would have thought?

Happy Birthday, Audrey

Audrey turns two tomorrow. We had a fun time celebrating her birthday today. Dad and Brian came. So did the Fairchild’s and the Friesens. We checked out the local orchard right outside of town (we’re planning on going to another orchard in Delano soon, but I thought it would be easier to do a smaller, closer one today), picked a couple of apples, played with the kids toys and took a hayride. Then we came back and had lunch, opened presents and had cake. Audrey got to stay up until about 1:45 (was it that late, I don’t remember). She had a really great nap!

We got to see Chloe today. Ethan was very sweet around her and he is now calling Erica, “Baby Chloe’s Mommy”. He’s known her as Erica for 3 1/2 years, but she has a new identity now! Here are some photos from today!

I’m 32 now. 2 years past 30! Nathan made waffles for breakfast and presented me with my birthday presents. Here are 2 that I’m really excited about:

I’ve been thinking of getting a heart rate monitor for a while and a friend of mine who is a trainer recommended the Polar brand. I’m using some birthday money for this. It’s the F6 model and it’s pink!

This is the coolest book. It has tons of layouts and and specifically maps out sizes of each page element. One of the neatest things is that it also includes a deck of laminated cards with a thumbnail of many of the sketches in the book.
To finish off the day, Nathan brought home sesame chicken for supper and he even took off from work a little early so he would have time to get it and still be home by regular supper time.
