New Year’s Eve

We celebrated with Andrew and Marie and family tonight. We left early due to sleepy kids. I do have to mention that I won Apples to Apples. The picture is of Andrew holding what we named, “The Blue Plate of Death”. I think it was Marie’s idea. We used it to collect cards each turn. I don’t know if you can read it, but Nathan actually wrote on the plate. Lots of good food and fun!

Matthew

About a month ago, Ethan’s friend, Matthew (he’s in the middle in the picture), started to not feel very well. His mom noticed that he was looking a little yellow. After 3 weeks of every other day trips to the doctor for blood work and measuring his liver, they pretty much exhausted every possible test they could do to determine what the problem was. Matthew’s liver has been getting larger this entire time and some other enzyme (I think) levels have been much higher than they should be. Last Friday, he had a biopsy done and they are hoping to hear the results this week.
This is a very big deal. Please pray for Matthew. Pray that God would heal him. Pray that the biopsy results would either reveal that he’s getting better on his own already or give them a definitive diagnosis that is treatable.

Slumber party

Zemirah, Ethan’s friend, is here for the night. Her momma had a baby girl this evening. Happy Birth-day Elora (I think that’s how it’s spelled)! Ethan was thrilled to have her here to play with him for the entire afternoon!

Tuesday is also storytime at the library. Today was “D” day. They heard stories about dogs and dinosaurs. Then they colored pictures of dump trucks and dogs and did rubbings of dinosaurs. We had some artwork to show Daddy tonight!

The Tour of Orchards Continues

We checked out the AppleJack Orchard in Delano yesterday. The weather was beautiful! Ethan and Audrey and I went along with Marie and her littlest ones: Ezekiel, Zemirah and Gideon (and Baby Girl, yet to be born). There were several school groups there so we had to wait a while to get a wagon ride and the kids were restless. I can’t believe how Marie had still hold a 31lb 1 1/2 year old while she is 8 months pregnant. She is amazing!
The kids liked the goats and ducks and playing around with the pumpkins. I liked the Minnetonka Orchard better, but this wasn’t a bad orchard. I have pictures, but for some reason I’m having trouble getting them on the computer. I think I would have enjoyed it more if the kids could have just ran and played without us worrying about them getting into something they shouldn’t or getting lost in the crowd of other kids.
Unfortunately, the part that sticks out to me is that an older man who worked at the orchard, for some reason, came and yelled and Ethan. Then he left. He never told me what the problem was and Ethan just cried and cried. I mentioned it to one of the employees later and she gave us a bag of donuts for free! That was nice, but grrrrrr to the mean man who shouldn’t be allowed near preschoolers!

Ethan is now done with naps except for a couple a week. I make him stay in his room while Audrey is sleeping, but he can play quietly. He loves it. Today I went to get him when Audrey woke up. He was asleep on the floor! Speaking of Ethan, he just earned his “hopper” patch for Awana for learning the verses so far! It might be an iron-on patch. If not, I may have to glue it. I don’t sew. Sorry Grandma.

Audrey is talking a lot! It’s so funny to hear her try to talk like Ethan. Hearing our little girl holler things like “Blast-off” makes us chuckle. The joys of having an older brother. She tried to tell me she wanted a “drink” the other day, but I couldn’t understand her. Finally, she said, “thirsty” because she gave up on me figuring out “drink”. I asked her who was thirsty. She said, “Audrey”. Awwwwwwww. I love my kids!

I’m getting ready to start potty training Audrey. Once we really start working on it, I want to stick with it so I want to make sure I’m ready. Wont it be nice to be done with diapers? They have been a constant in my life for the last 41 months. That’s a long time!!

From last weekend

We celebrated Ethan and Audrey’s friend, Zemirah’s, birthday on Saturday. She turned 3. We had a great time at a beach nearby. Audrey loved being in the water. She’s our little water bug. Ethan wasn’t quite as into it, but he loves digging in the sand and playing with friends. It was a great day.
