Happenings
Isaac is still working on his crawling form. Mostly he slithers on his belly and does the army crawl. He loves to explore the kitchen.
Lots of things to grab and many yummy leftover crumbs to eat.
And we’re still teething. Tooth number 5 is just now showing through. Lots of drool. Evidence below
Missing Friday weigh-in report
I failed to report in with my weight-loss progress on Friday. I was up a half pound the previous week. When I weighed on Friday, I was up another 1.5.
I so hate that I just start eating and don’t stop.
It’s not that I’m working hard and doing the right things and not seeing results. I’m frustrated that I keep choosing to do the wrong things.
Our weekend
No new pictures. Words will have to do for this post.
Yesterday, Ethan and Audrey went to Underwater World with Aunt Jean and Uncle Ralph and Liz and Frank. The kids had a blast! They have such exciting adventures with the Fairchilds.
Later that evening, we had the Sweetheart Banquet at our church. Childcare was provided so we brought our 3. When I asked earlier I was told that there were 6 kids signed up. By my math, that would seem that our kids would be half of that group. Upon arriving we discovered there were a few more. We dropped them off and headed upstairs. There were 26 couples. There were 3 couples at each table. We sat with the associate pastor, Greg, and his wife, Debbie. The other couple I had only briefly talked with before- John and Lyn. John works at Crown. Nathan knew him a little, but we had fun hearing more from them. 4 couple were chosen to do The Newlywed Show. Nathan and I laughed so hard. It was very funny to hear the answers that couples gave to the different questions. The food was great too!
It was after 9:00 when we got home. So, this morning when Isaac went down for his morning nap and didn’t wake up as early as he normally would (which would have enabled us to get to church in time), we let him sleep and decided to stay home. Actually, Nathan made the decision and I was still in bed. I wasn’t feeling great and I was so tired. My Sweetheart got up and took care of the kids this morning! He does that most mornings while I catch a few more minutes of sleep. He’s a good one. I’m very thankful for him.
After finally getting out of bed, I did the dishes and then I folded 4 loads of laundry. After lunch, I went for a run and then I headed to WalMart to get groceries. I’m glad I went to running when I did. It was nice and sunny and relatively warm when I went out. Later, the wind picked up and the temperature dropped a lot.
Yes, I’m still running regularly. I love running and feel bummed when I can’t get out and do it 3 or 4 times a week. I did 10.3 miles this week. I’m hoping to average about 13 a week for the year. It should be easier once winter is over.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Oh, one more. This was the last of my photos today…
Snowy day…
Sorry, Mom and Dad. I forgot this outside. Still lights up some evenings, though…
We looked for a monster under the shed last night. Amy was waving at us out the window while I dug a path all the way from the driveway to the shed so Ethan could look for the “rabbit-footed bird-winged monsters”. When we didn’t find them, he told me they could go invisible.
By Popular Demand
or at least Tim’s request.
The recipe for the trifle I made on Sunday for Isaac’s dedication:
1 recipe of brownies (baked according to directions on the box)
1 lg container of Cool Whip
1 sm container of Cool Whip (to prepare the mousse)
8 Heath Bars (or Skor Bars– I actually only used 4, but the recipe calls for
crushed
Chocolate Mousse (2- 4oz pkg of chocolate pudding, 3 C. of milk, 2 C. Cool Whip)
** Cool Whip comes partially frozen. You may want to keep yours in the fridge for a while get it to a consistency that is easier to layer or mix in with the chocolate pudding mix. **
Crumble brownies and spread half in large glass bowl.
Spread half of the mousse over the brownies.
Spread half of the Cool Whip over the mousse.
Sprinkle half of the crushed candy bars over the Cool Whip.
Repeat layers.
Refrigerate and allow to set for several hours or over night so flavors mix.
How Isaac Takes his Milk
He wants to do it himself.
Straight from the cow.
I suppose this is his early version of “cow’s milk”.
Loved
I was totally and completely blown away by the account of Ernest and Debra Parker’s adoption of their son, Ronel. I followed their story in real time as Ernest traveled to Haiti to get Ronel and ended up sleeping for a week on the floor of the US Embassy. Every day, there was a new excuse about why they couldn’t leave, but Ernest was determined that he wasn’t going home without his son. You can read some of the account here.
Ice. Dam
You haven’t seen ice until you’ve seen the ice hanging over our garage.
Isaac’s Dedication day
Hmmmm….. Actually, this is more like it. Pleading with Isaac not to drool or puke on my dress. Ethan running off some energy. Audrey plotting to secretly put on her tutu under her dress. (More photos later)
