by nathanChloe’s dancing video inspired me to upload this video of Audrey dancing. I was playing the wedding episode of The Office and then Audrey wanted to join in with the dancing. This is from a day or two ago.
I ran 3 minutes!
by nathanDoesn’t seem like much, but I’m pretty proud of it. Today I had two cycles of 90 seconds of jogging, 90 seconds walking then 3 minutes jogging (with a 3 minute walk between cycles). According to Google Earth, that was about a quarter mile per jog. Not bad.
Not great — I’m still a wimp, but I am trying
I’m gonna do the same routine on Thursday and Saturday. I like the Tues, Thurs, Saturday schedule — It makes for a nice long break between weeks if I run on Saturday morning.
I have to admit that having just did a week where the longest I ran was 90 seconds, 3 minutes seemed a bit intimidating — says the man whose wife jogged 25 minutes today. She’s a superhero, I tell you!
I’m getting there. 9 minutes of jogging total today. I have run in the rain and the snow. And I’m just starting my third week!
Amy’s Run- Week 7, Day 1
by nathanThis week’s program:
5 minutes of warm-up walk
25 minutes of running
I did the math wrong earlier in regard to my total distance from the time I leave the house until I get back to our doorstep. I’m going to go back and edit the previous posts so I have an accurate historical record! The correct total mileage is 2.60 miles.
Here’s how I did today:
5 minutes walking- .33 miles
25 minutes running- 2.17 miles
Walked/Run the last .09 miles to get home for a total run and walk time of 31:18 and total distance of 2.60.
Ethan and Isaac
by nathanAmy’s Run- Week 6, Day 3
by nathanToday’s routine:
5 minute warm-up walk
25 minutes of running.
I did it! I ran for 25 minutes without stopping. I don’t think I have ever done that before. It was in the 20′s this morning when I went out for my run. I had a thin fleece jacket and a hooded sweatshirt over it. I wore Ethan’s Batman gloves(they fit!) and I wore a scarf-like thingy around my neck and it kind of covered my mouth. My legs were cold. I’ll need so leggings for under my pants next time. The legs were really the only thing that were cold.
It was hard to run in the cold. The cold air is harder on my lungs. I could also tell that some folks were using their wood burning stoves. The smoke smell almost did me in as I was trying to focus on making it up a big hill at the 20 minute point of my run. Also, we had snow last night and there were patches of ice on the ground that I had to watch out for.
I did .33 miles during my 5 minute warm-up walk, 2.09 miles during my 25 minute run and walked/ran the last .5 mile to get back home. The total route of 2.60 took me 32:13.
Amy’s Run- Week 6, Day 2
by nathanThis was today’s program:
5 minutes warm up walk
10 minutes running
3 minutes walking
10 minutes running
I set out to do a route that was 2 1/2 miles. According to the map, after my 5 minute warm-up walk, I did 1.87 miles in 23 minutes. After that, I walked until I made it home. I was at 33:47 by the time I got back to our house. My heart rate monitor said that I burned 320 calories.
I feel good and a little nervous that this is the last day that I have any intervals of running and walking. All running from here on out!
Echo scheduled
by nathanWe have Audrey’s echocardiogram scheduled for Friday, October 16 at 9:00am. The procedure is done at the Children’s Heart Clinic at Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis. Their website says that parents are welcome in the room for the procedure and that for young children they have them pick out a movie or bring one of their own to watch while the echo is done. It also sounds like we would get feedback from the doctor right away. No waiting. That’s good! The only waiting we’ll have is the days between now and that appointment.
