A mom, a dad, and three cute kids.

Saturday Roundup

There he is. My 3 month old baby. Isaac has been so easy lately that I sometimes forget we have three children. Ethan and Audrey still adore him. They get excited whenever he wakes up from his naps. He still wakes one time at night, but I feed him and he goes right back to sleep. He goes down for the night at about 7:00 and doesn’t wake until 4ish to nurse. That’s a super long stretch of sleep and I’m very happy he’s doing so well. He smiles at us when we talk to him. He loves to lay on his back and hang out in the same room as his brother and sister. Being where the action is makes him happy! I can tell his weight gain isn’t nearly as fast as it was early on, but he seems happy and healthy so I’m not worried. I like him more every day!

On an unrelated note, our family is just wrapping up one the hardest and most stressful months we’ve ever experienced. We’ve also made a pretty big decision recently. I mentioned in an earlier post that I had stepped down from my responsibilities at our church. What I didn’t mention then was that Nathan and I decided that it was time to look for a new church home. The decision was new enough that I didn’t feel comfortable mentioning it. I have a couple weeks of distance now and it feels like this isn’t a passing phase.

Lots of different things factored into this decision. I’ve been a part of this church for more than 10 years and it has been my church home for my entire adult life, but when I mentioned the idea of leaving to Nathan we both agreed that we really didn’t feel all that connected. I do have some specific hurts and disappointments (again, that I probably should not go into here) that I’m dealing with. I’m not sure what to do with these feelings. There really isn’t anyone to blame and it may just be God’s way of moving us to the next phase of our lives. It’s also been hard living 30 minutes away. Perhaps if we really want to experience community at our place of worship we need to live in a closer community. Does that make sense? I used the word “community” two different ways in that sentence.

There you have it. Just one of our “big things” that is happening.
